Scale length

The scale lengths I use for the standard guitar models are as follows: parlor and concert bodies; 24.56, jumbo bodies; 25.30. Ukuleles use the following: soprano; 13 ¾, concert; 15, tenor;17 3/32, and baritone; 20 1/8. In the custom shop, the sky’s the limit. I’d be glad to make any scale length including

multi-scale fan frets.

Finishes

For my instruments I use traditional nitrocellulose lacquer. Lacquer can be applied in thin layers that still have high gloss, (or matt if desired). Lacquer has the ability to be easily touched up and repaired if necessary. It is a very durable, traditional finish that looks great when it has been hand rubbed and polished. Lacquer does tend to check and craze over time, (think 30 Years), but this tends to enhance not detract from the appearance of the guitar. Many production guitars today use more modern polyester finishes that perhaps are more durable, but are not as easily touched up or repaired, and are sometimes a thicker coating. My goal is to apply as few coats as possible that still has a nice gloss and adequate protection. I do this to produce the best possible sound in your guitar.
